Quietus
Quietus is a thriller about two sisters running from a monster in an abandoned house.
Role: Production Designer
This film was shot in 2 days, I did all PD by myself while also directing. I had no art team and only 24hrs before shoot day to decorate the house.
Used lights to make everything standout
I wanted the house to be completely destroyed from the inside, but look like it was once lived in by a happy family.
I used regular household items and decorated the space like any modern american family would, then I started ripping sheets and fake wallpaper I had placed on the walls. I tipped over couches and appliances and scattered broken toys throughout the living space.
I ended up also making certain areas in the layout look as if they were clawed by a big monster. As soon as the lighting was set up in the space, the actors were really able to put themselves in a situation where they felt scared because of all the chaos around them.
In every corner and cabinet there was something there that if the actors chose to use for a scene, they could. It was an intense project, but I think the set looked amazing, and I was very happy with the world I had created.
