The Lost Man

A western short that tells the tale of Jack, a man who becomes lost in the desert and is then questioned about the disappearance of his friends.

Role: Production Designer

This film was put together in a time span of only 2 weeks to plan, find locations and props, film, and edit.

Moving Props to keep continuity during set

Through the entire film my co-production designer Mary, and I had the challenge of setting up a realistic old wild west sheriff office.

This was a $0 budget project, so all we had access to was what we owned and also what our school prop shop had.

We also had to set everything up in a tiny shack on a ranch during a rainstorm. It was definitely  a challenge, but God is good and we were all able to pull everything off.

One of my favorite moments was roughing up some of the posters and scrubbing A&W root beer packets on them with some water. All and all what really made this look special was the old looking lanterns, jugs, and books. I also believe that the wheel wasn't our prop, but the ranch owners who allowed us to use it with zero cost. Everything we got for this film was volunteered and given to us.

Cleaning out the shed for reverse shots

This film was the start for me to really explore my production design skills and figure out the amount of time, effort, and research that goes into a position like this.

Special thanks to Johnathan Powers for being an amazing mentor and helping this production!
